Assoc. Prof. Jiashen Teh

Dr. Jiashen Teh is a renowned academic and industry expert specializing in electrical power systems, renewable energy integration, and energy storage technologies. As the Director of the Power System Group at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), he leads cutting-edge research and innovation to address challenges in modernizing power grids and advancing renewable energy adoption.

Dr. Teh has made significant academic contributions, authoring over 80 high-impact journal articles and conference papers that have advanced knowledge in dynamic line rating systems, energy forecasting algorithms, and energy storage coordination. His research is supported by more than RM1.1 million in funding, with over 86% secured as a principal investigator. His funding sources include the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and international collaborators such as UPE-Power & Megago Technologies Co. Ltd. (Taiwan) and Taif University (Saudi Arabia).

Dr. Teh’s industry collaborations include consultancy and training projects with over 30 companies, such as Malaysia Airlines, Intel Electronics, PETRONAS Technical Services, and Silterra Malaysia. These projects have focused on energy efficiency, grid reliability, and renewable energy integration, bringing measurable improvements to client operations.

Key achievements of Dr. Teh’s career include:

• Technology Development: Patented algorithms for solar radiation forecasting and dynamic line rating, achieving readiness for commercialization and significant industry cost savings.

• System Optimization: Improved power supply security by 37.2%, reduced emissions, and saved $60 million annually in power generation costs in Saudi Arabia.

• Educational Contributions: Designed and taught core undergraduate courses at USM, such as Circuit Theory and Power System Analysis, producing award-winning student projects.

Concurrently with his academic tenure, Dr. Teh served as the Technical Director at UPE-Power Technology Co., Ltd., where he led the development of dynamic line rating systems and battery storage solutions. His leadership resulted in major project wins, including the ALSOK DC-UPS system for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Assoc. Prof. Muhammad Junaid 

China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou

Muhammad Junaid received his Ph.D. (2020), M.S. (2015), and B.Eng. (2011) in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power system engineering. Since late 2020, he has been serving as an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, China. Previously, he was a Research Fellow at King's College Aberdeen, University of Aberdeen, in Scotland, and a Lecturer in Power Engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering, SARHAD University of Science & Information Technology, in Pakistan.

Dr. Junaid's research focuses on alternatives to the SF6 gas and key technologies for fault current interruption, including vacuum interrupters, cryogenic dielectrics, and high voltage insulation. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE), the European Society for Applied Superconductivity (ESAS), and IAENG Hong Kong, and a life member of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). He has been involved in 10 funded projects, presiding over 8 of them, and holds 11 patents and 56 publications.
